Course Description
Course Enduring Understandings
By the end of the World War II course students will understand that:

The major powers of World War I created a treaty of self-interest that rewarded some,
punished others, and established the foundation for another war.

The isolationism of the 1920's and America's superficial economic prosperity covered up multiple
factors that would lead to the 1929 Crash and the Great Depression.

America of the 1920s embraced an isolationist world view which was only deepened by the economic collapse of the 1930s.

Some wars are considered just wars because people believe they must confront an evil enemy.

Warfare leads to changes in the way democratic governments relate to their citizens.

The challenges of war transformed ordinary citizens into heroes and heroines both overseas
and at home.

World War II ended European dominance and changed the balance of power on the world
stage..
